Cydnei Proves Anything Is Possible

Share some personal information about yourself. What defines you? What are you passionate about?

People always ask me where I am from and I have come to find its easier to answer with..”Where am I not from?” My father played in the NFL and between being traded or franchises moving cities I moved 7 times before I was 6. I have moved another 8 times since then. I recently married an Army officer so my days of packing up and moving are nowhere near over. I currently am an Assistant Property Manager for Vornado Reality Trust in DC and just finished my third fitness show this year. I was fortunate enough to qualify for nationals after my first show where I placed second in my open class.

Fitness has always been something that I was interested in and competing was a huge goal of mine, but it has been a challenge. I received a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, but at the end of my freshman year I tore the labrum in my hip and ended up having 2 hip surgeries before it was determined I would never play again. Luckily the school honored my scholarship and I worked as a manager. It took me 2 years to recover and lose the 35 pounds I put on.

This last year I juggled a new marriage, my husbands new position, a promotion at work, traveling to watch my brother play football, all while I was training and competing. I truly believe that anything is possible with the right mindset. One of my favorite quotes is by my dads coach Chuck Noll, “you never arrive.” In other words you should never feel completely satisfied. There is always something to improve and always challenges you can pursue.

What motivates you to tackle your fitness goals?

My husband and my family. Both are very athletic and driven. If they can be successful so can I. Its a wonderful feeling to accomplish all my fitness goals and be able to support them in all their endeavors.

What has been your proudest fitness accomplishment to date?

Being in the greatest shape of my life at Nationals this year.

What do you love most about the fitness lifestyle and being in shape?

I love the routine. At first it was difficult, but now its part of my every day. When I am not in a routine I feel off. I love that other people can see the difference too. When your healthy other people around you want to eat healthy.

What’s been the hardest obstacle to overcome in your path to reaching your goals?

My lack of patience. I am very competitive and when I get an idea to do something I want to do it right now. Getting back into shape does not happen that way. You have to be patient and trust the process. It was difficult for me at first because I wanted to be fit after a week of working out, but having a trainer and having a supportive family kept me going each week to accomplish my goals.

Tell us about your future goals and dreams, relating to fitness or otherwise.

Right now my husband and I are trying to have our first baby!! My goal to to do a figure show in between kids and a photo shoot.

Your preferred treat meal?

Butter pecan ice cream with hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles!!

What type of training do you like best?

I love giant sets! I like to lift heavy and alternate between exercises. Keeps my interest and energy up throughout the workout. I try and get outside and hike with my dog as much as possible and I just picked up golfing. That is a work in progress though.

What kind of music helps motivate you in the gym?

I listen to absolutely everything. It just depends on my mood. Although whenever I do legs I play All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor. There is also about a 90% chance I am listening to Beyonce at some point in my workout.

Your favorite motivational quote. What thought helps you get moving when exercising is the last thing on your mind?

“You never Arrive.”- Chuck Noll

“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.”- Arnold Schwarzenegger

What’s the best piece of advice you can offer someone who’s looking to get in shape or reach her fitness goals?

Be patient and positive. Don’t sweat little things. Take one day at a time and move on.

If there are any people you’d like to thank for helping you on your journey, do so here!

Stay positive!! Find what motivates you and use that to accomplish your goals.

Would you recommend Olesya’s coaching services to others? If so, please describe what made your experience positive …?

Absolutely! One of the best people I have ever had a chance to work with. It is very hard to find people in this industry who care about others and actually know what they are talking about. Olesya does both. It has been an amazing year training with her and she has helped me accomplish one of my life goals. Love her!

So proud of all you’ve accomplished. Your dedication and discipline show in all you do. I laugh when you say you’re “very competitive.” You are the most competitive person I know. You expect perfection from yourself in all you do, which explains why you’ve always been a winner. I expect that will be how you will also master your golf game and being a mother. It’s been one of the greatest joys of my life seeing you compete and push to be the best in all you do. I know that you will “never arrive.” You will always be improving.
    Love you, Dad
